Lego ® Bridge Building workshop with Steve Guinness – Free

As part of the #Storiel10 celebration activity series over Easter, it is a pleasure to welcome the Brick Consultant, Steve Guinness to the museum to present a fun workshop for the whole family .

Steve came to prominence as the winner the first ever LEGO®  Masters TV competition in 2017. He is also the designer of the LEGO® ‘Ideas Typewriter’ set.

This workshop will be a joint celebration of 200 years since the opening of the Menai Bridge and the innovative work of the architect and designer Thomas Telford. Steve will use this as a starting point for this fun workshop.

Sheepfolds of the Carneddau

There are over 3,000 sheepfolds across north west Wales, but only around 100 of these are the very large, communal, folds that farmers have used to sort the flocks of sheep that graze on the mountains over the summer. This talk looks at how these large folds work, when, why and where they were built and how they fit into the history and culture of welsh hill farming - and also how they are linked to an island off Croatia. Many of them are now falling into disrepair but we will finish the talk by seeing how some are still used today, continuing the pattern and rhythm of gathering sheep from the hills that goes back over 300 years
