Take part in Archaeology UK’s Festival of Archaeology 2026 at STORIEL!

The theme of this years’ Festival is ‘Archaeology and Nature’, so come by for one of the sessions with STORIEL’s own Indi-Hannah Jones (Archaeology graduate and enthusiast of Bronze Age pottery) for an informal workshop of creating a small pot using air dray clay, inspired by our prehistoic collections.

Activity 1: Learn about different patterns that would have been used on pottery of different ages, both in Gwynedd and around the world, and try to recreate your own small piece using air dray clay and tools provided.

Activity 2: ‘Fossilise’ nature in your clay, by imprinting loose pieces of nature that will be provided. Or if you feel inspired by rock art, ceramic patterns, or slate carvings; feel free to carve your own designs on a piece of clay.

Please ensure that you book your place to avoid disappointment, and cancel if you aren o longer able to attend.Sessions are free and suitable for children and adults. If a child wishes to take part, they must be accompanied by an adult.

[These are intended to be relaxed sessions! We encourage you to explore the museums’ collections and just have fun]
