The first in a series of artist talks curated by the students of Bangor Art Foundation course will be a talk with artist, writer, theorist and commentator Iwan Bala, whose body of work (both visual and written) has seen him as a dynamic presence in Welsh culture. From his frequent articles in Planet (the Welsh internationalist) He has exhibited internationally, been involved in numerous cross-media collaborations and is a founder member of The Artists’ Project/Prosiect Artistiaid as well as a member of the BECA artist Group.

Discussing his career as well as his recent work that coincides with his current exhibition at Storiel, the Museum of Gwynedd, Yr hen ddweud o’r newydd yw / The old telling made new, Iwan Bala will discuss the 30 new pieces of art reworked from older pieces that had been in storage. where the old work informs the new work, enriching the visual and emotional narrative that respond to the political climate in the UK and further afield . Whilst global concerns are expressed, the artist begins his exploration, his ‘field-notes’, from his perspective of Cymru, his own homeland.
