Seaside Treasures: Gelli Plate Printing Workshop

£48 materials provided

Local artist Jane Fellows will be teaching a workshop on how to create beautiful prints using the gelli plate printing method. Drawing inspiration from a collection of beach treasures, you will get the chance to experiment with leaves, feathers, seaweed, and other found objects to recreate the captivating textures and colours of nature.

During the workshop, you will learn how to apply ink to your gel plate to achieve the correct consistency. You will also explore layering techniques to create fascinating shapes and patterns in your final prints. By the end of the session, you will have the opportunity to transform your designs into prints or greeting cards to take home with you.

While leaves, seaweed, and feathers will be provided, you are welcome to bring some of your own. A flat leaf or feather with an interesting shape and veined texture is preferred. A variety of sizes and shapes will make a pleasing composition. Please note that objects with sharp edges are not allowed as they may damage the gelli plate.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist looking to try new techniques, this course is suitable for everyone. No drawing skills are required.
