To celebrate 200 years since the opening of the Menai Suspension Bridge, we commissioned Steve Guinness to make a 5ft long model of the bridge using Lego bricks.

Built in 1826, and designed by Thomas Telford, the bridge was a valuable link between Anglesey and the mainland.  In this exhibition, we wanted to show how the bridge has historically been depicted – using Storiel’s collection of topographical prints and artefacts, like this sampler and fireplace.   There are more items related to the bridges in the Museum.  We also want to inspire visitors to make their own bridge in Lego.

We would welcome images and insights about the Menai bridge from our community.  Do you have images of the bridge that are special to you today? What does the bridge mean to you?  We’d love to hear from you:
