Last year’s Open Art Exhibition at the National Eisteddfod put a spotlight on two very exciting young artists. The first, multi-disciplinary artist Barnaby Prendergast, who won the prestigious Dewi Bowen New Artist Scholarship, the second Mia Roberts, a 2024-25 recipient of Artist Futures Breakthrough Artist Fund who’s ambitious works were the talk of the Maes. The connection: both artists are part of the vibrant North Wales skateboard scene.
On the 7th of March, a series of talks and presentations about Bangor skateboarding culture will be curated by photographer and filmmaker Yannick Hammer who’s decade long documentation of the scene offers a fascinating insight, with Bangor as its backdrop.
