22 March 2025Join local basketmaker, Karla Pearce, to weave a beautiful willow Catalan Platter. These platters, also known as tension trays, offer an enjoyable introduction to the world of willow basket making. You will learn the skills of hoop making, simple weaving and pairing as well as a tie to finish the handles of the tray. Karla will also talk about willow growing and the preparation of willow for weaving. Small willow plants will be available for purchase on the day so that you can grow your willow at home.

I was interested in exploring these features, not for recreating the original or producing functional objects, but for meditating on form and function.
