Recording for Ffion Dafis’s show on BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Sounds with Iwan Bala discussing his exhibition ‘Yr Hen o’r Newydd Yw’

To celebrate Iwan Bala’s new exhibition ‘Yr Hen o’r Newydd Yw’, Storiel, Gwynedd Museum will host an evening in two parts, focusing on the exhibition and contemporary Welsh art.

The first part of the evening will be an interview between the artist and presenter Ffion Dafis, which will be broadcast on her BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Sounds show, where she explores the artistic world in Wales and beyond.

In the second part of the evening, Iwan Bala will be in conversation with poet and musician Twm Morys about Visual Poetry. This discussion will wander into various topics around culture, the arts, history, tradition, etc. Through conversation, they’ll explore the meaning of ‘yr hen ddweud o’r newydd yw’ (“the old saying is the new”), and how images and ‘saying’ in Iwan Bala’s work resemble the expression found in the work of poets like Twm Morys.
